On the island of Kythira

Cirego Island is located south of the Peloponnese, the Ionian Sea near the border with the Aegean Sea.

The island, which has a very special appearance is attractive for its natural beauty, its picturesque villages, Byzantine monuments, the Venetian fortresses, monasteries and churches in the country.

In Greek mythology, the ancient Cythera was identified, along the island of Cyprus as the birthplace of the goddess Aphrodite (Venus to the Romans). Hence the name "Venus" attributed to the goddess, and the "island of Venus' past the island.
